Overview

We have introduced several enhancements to TikTok campaign creation via media plan uploads, enabling advertisers to configure custom targeting directly in the input sheet and define campaign-level budgets in addition to the existing ad group budgets.

These enhancements provide greater flexibility while reducing the dependency on saved audiences during campaign setup.

1. Custom Targeting Support

You can now configure ad group targeting directly in the media plan template without relying solely on Shopalyst saved audiences.

What's New

The following new columns have been added to the input sheet:

  • Genders – Target users by gender (e.g., Male, Female)
  • Age Ranges – Target specific age groups
  • Included Locations – Specify geographic location names to target
  • Included Interests – Specify interest-based targeting

Important Notes

  • These targeting fields can be used alongside Shopalyst saved audiences.
  • They cannot be used together with a TikTok Saved Audience on the same row. Media plan upload validation will fail if both are provided.

2. Campaign-Level Budget Support

In addition to ad group budgets, users can now configure budgets at the campaign level.

What's New

The following new budget columns have been introduced:

  • Campaign Lifetime Budget – Set the total budget for the entire campaign
  • Campaign Daily Budget – Set the daily campaign budget (primarily used with Campaign Budget Optimization)

Important Notes

  • Only one of Campaign Lifetime Budget or Campaign Daily Budget can be specified for a campaign.
  • Providing values for both columns will result in media plan upload validation failure.

3. Ad Group Budget Column Renames

To clearly distinguish campaign-level budgets from ad group budgets, these existing budget columns have been renamed:

  • Lifetime Budget  ->  Ad Group Lifetime Budget
  • Daily Budget  ->  Ad Group Daily Budget

These columns retain the same functionality as before and continue to control budgets at the ad group level.

Benefits

  • Configure audience targeting directly within the media plan template
  • Reduce dependency on pre-created TikTok saved audiences
  • Support both campaign-level and ad group-level budgeting strategies
  • Improve clarity with explicit budget column names
  • Simplify campaign planning and setup through a single upload workflow

Getting Started

  1. Use the latest TikTok media plan upload template.
  2. Populate the new targeting and/or budget columns as required.
  3. Ensure that custom targeting fields are not used together with a TikTok Saved Audience on the same row.
  4. Ensure only one of Campaign Lifetime Budget or Campaign Daily Budget is provided.
  5. Follow the standard media plan upload and publish workflow.
